It happened in a hallway at an apartment building on the 2100 block of North College Avenue, Philadelphia police told Daily Voice. The victim, 35, was shot once in the head and rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where she remains in critical condition, the department added.
It is not clear what led to the landlord-tenant officer shooting the woman. Police say they recovered the gun and have detained the officer for questioning.
